Thumbs Championship T-Shirt!

Here out latest t-shirt project, published yesterday on Threadless and ready to be voted! If It will receive enough votes, it will be printed as a Threadless t-shirt. So, if you like it, help us voting it on this page or just share it as much as you can (on facebook, twitter, real life, and so on..). Thank you so much!

But let's talk about the t-shirt and the relative championship:  the Thumbs Championship it's a tough championship where tough people have to use thumbs to win against tough opponents with tough thumbs. :-P

The design is created in two versions: the "White Corner" version and the "Red Corner" version, as the two corners of the thumbs fight ring. The first one it's printed on a white t-shirt, the second one on a red t-shirt.  On the white t-shirt the gloves are red and the string is brown (print in 8 colours: reds, browns and white). On the red t-shirt the gloves are light brown and the string is brown (print in 8 colours: browns, grey and white).

On the back the string continues with the knot, and there's the "Guildford '42 Thumbs Championship" name. A funny 3D effect it's given by the shadows and it will make you look like a real Thumb Champion!

Sapori Ticino 2010

From march to may 2010 we realized 34 paintings for the high gastronomy event "San Pellegrino Sapori Ticino 2010" and 7 other paintings with the same style but without the culinary concept.
The 34 paintigs are portraits of chefs and guests that partecipated at the events in different restaurants in Ticino with images of Lugano on backgroud. In different days, seven Chefs working in Ticino invited in theyr restaurants 7 'queens' of high European gastronomy, women who thanks to the excellent quality of their dishes have all obtained coveted Michelin stars. During every event, our painting were give as presents to the Chefs and the special guests.

The 7 paintings are all realized with 2 different whites, 2 different reds and black and they show views (not totally real) of the city of Lugano. Both works are on 30x30 cm canvas and made with mixed media: spray paint, serigraphy and acrilyc paint.

The Chefs in the portraits are: Luigi Lafranco, Anna  Ros, Alessio Rossi, Montse Estruch, Frank Oerthle, Anna Sgroi, Dario Ranza, Luisa Valazza, Martin Dalsass, Sala Ruch-Fukuoka, Gian Luca Ros, Anna Matscher, Ivo Adam, Tanja Grandits.

Oh, What a Strange Thing on my Nose! (DROP)

We finally have all the pictures and videos we need (both by Andrea Todaro) to make this post about the DROP contest in Lausanne where we had to customize a Toy2R's Qee Bear vinyl toy of 20 cm (8 inches). So what happened in Lausanne?

We started preparing our toy around 11 o'clock in the morning, the Characterstation stuff was really kind and there was a nice atmosphere. For every finalist there was a little table where to work, and there was a place to use spray cans without intoxicate other people.
All the other finalist were really quiet and concentrate on theyr work and we needed till 4 o'clok in the afternoon to finish our customization (with its accessories, the camera and the torch). At 6 o'clock in the afternoon the jury decided the winners and our "Oh, What a Strange Thing on my Nose!" arrived 3rd. About it: the basic theme of the entire DROP exhibition was "Black and White". Everyone in every category had to realize something using only black and white and we decided to use them like light and shadow. So, our strange multiple-eyed-Qee it's taking a self-portrait picture to photograph the little strange thing (a ladybug) on its nose and what you see of its face it's because of the flash light.

We're really happy about that because it was a beautiful experience into a beautiful "street art" exposition (DROP) into the beautiful city of Lausanne. We were really satisfied of our work (and the 3rd place) and we saw other people realizing beautiful works (and also the graphics exhibition, the live painting and graffiti).

Here you can see some picture about our work (click on the images to enlarge them), but if you want to see more, visit our Flickr Page, our Facebook album or Characterstation's Facebook Album.

DROP custom vinyl toy!

We are in the 12 (or 15?) finalists of the DROP custom contest! We were selected after sending our project for the customization of a TOY2R's Quee Bear and the 1st of may we'll realize our customization during the DROP exhibition at Lausanne.

DROP is a black and white urban graphic exhibition at the Arsenic of Lausanne. During the 1st and the 2nd of may, there will be live painting, live graffiti painting, a graphic posters exhibition, music and of course the live art toys custom session. We will be there, to realize our customization, between 11.00 and 17.00 o'clock.

About our project: the main rule was that it can be used only black and white, without grayscale or colours, so we tryed to find a funny idea to use this rule in a graphic and interesting way. We're really happy to go there and do this live, and we'll post soon something about the day and our work.

New Painting and Photographs!

We just finished the last painting of the series named "Square Space Life" composed of 8 paintings of 80x80 cm, mixed media on canvas (the biggest part with spray paint and acrylic). This one is named "Sudden Firework" and you can have a look of the other 7 paintings in our Behance page here.

At the same time there are a lot of new photographs on Pablo's Flickr page here. Some portrait, some picture taken during Orpheline's and Nakaruga's videoclips (both filmed by Andrea Todaro), some showing old decadent factory and house of the south of Switzerland.

Of course we're also continuing with the Hangselm project and starting with new works: a series of paintings, another series of boxes and more that we'll show you as soon as we can! (and we're working on some changes in our website www.nevercrew.com)

Hangselm Series 2: Not An Air Freshener!

The first customized Hangselm of the second series, named "Not An Air Freshener", is now online! It is made by Simona Meisser and you can download it on Hangselm's website www.hangselm.com!

This second series is designed to begin to expand the HANGSELM project involving, only initially and upon invitation, artists from south Switzerland or just connected to south Switzerland. Of course it’s also opened to artists from around the world that desire to partecipate. 15 Hangselm are planned for this series and some day ago we sent the invitations to the Swiss artists... and now something begin to arrive!

Simona Meisser was born in Lugano in 1984 and she graduated in 2003 as Textile Creator at the CSIA of Lugano and in 2006 as Illustrator at the IED of Milan. From 2007 she works free lance as illustrator with various publishing houses. She also shows her artworks in touring exhibitions and makes graphic-pictorial activities at the elementary schools.

Since we published Hangselm's website we also received many requests from artists from different countries and we're really curious to see the next Hagselms of the second series!
