Hangselm & the Dirty Painters!

Here we go with the pictures of the Villa Balli painting in Locarno... but not only!! As already mentioned, in february we made an outdoor painting on the old shop windows of the unhabited Villa Balli in Locarno for the exhibition "Il Definitivo è Trasformazione" (today, the 6th of march 2010, will be the inauguration).

We were free to decide what to do and this work, named "Dirty Painters - Cut + Fold", is our way to interpretate the idea of "transformation" in a funny way and it was the occasion to create something more than a painting.

In fact, we added a 3D element inside one of the shop windows and we planned everything to be a painting, a sculpture and a paper toy at the same time. This is how Hangselm is born.

As you can see in the following pictures, there are four "uncut" charachters on the wall and all of them are painters. The fifth has been cut out and built, and it's free to paint as he likes. 

Hence for the occaision we decided to let you interact with our work and we created a paper-toy to cut and fold, named Hangselm. The Hangselm Dirty Painters Series is at the same time the outcome and the beginning of this work, as well as the first series of our first paper toy.

Orpheline!

 

As promised, we start posting one of the works we made during the latest months: the artwork for Orpheline's debut album "Spread my Wings", out in Switzerland from the 26th of february 2010.

Orpheline is singer and songwriter, and she grew up between Europe and USA. This first album is produced by BlackAce and contains the single "Shy Boy" (more on Orpheline's website orphelinemusic.com and BlackAce's website www.blackaceshow.biz).

More specificly we did the graphics for the album, the graphics for the promo single,  the graphic layout for Orpheline's website, some drawings for the musical video of the french version of "Shy Boy" and we gave a hand during its shooting.

The general idea of the graphic concept starts from Etan Genini (communication and prodution manager of BlackAce) and the photographs are taken by Michael Bonito & Gruppo Diffusione; so, in this case, we mainly had to find the right decorations, composition and graphical solutions and of course we made photo editing and some little photomontage.

For the musical video, shooting and editing by Andrea Todaro, we made digital drawings built on levels to permit animation. At the beginning the animation had to be done by us but then,  for ease, it was made by Andrea Todaro too (but we have to thank Yan Hirschbühl, www.yahi.ch,  for the AfterEffects lessons!).

New unexpected outdoor Painting!

It's longtime we don't write on our blog (since Christmas) just because it's longtime that we don't have something interesting to put on it! :-) We spent the last 2 months working mostly on graphics and a bit of photography, but this monday we started with a new outdoor painting!
We don't usually paint outdoor during winter, weather isn't the best and it's really too cold for hands, paint, cans and so on. In this case we accepted the work because it's in an intersting place and for an intersting event: the exhibition "Il Definitivo è Trasformazione" in Locarno (The Definitive is Transformation).
As you can see in the pictures, we're working on a long series of shop windows of an old uninhabited house (named Villa Balli, goin to be renovate..). We're painting only on glass with spray cans (almost only red, at the moment...) and we conceived a strange project... but we'll show you when it'll be finished (tomorrow we finish the painting part, next tuestday we finish the "strange" part, and we'll post as soon as we can pictures and special content on our blog and on our website www.nevercrew.com).

Of course the passed two months werent' unuseless: we'll post here also the products of this period soon! :-)

About the exhibition: "Il Definitivo è Trasformazione". Villa Balli, Via Borghese 2, Locarno (Switzerland). Presented by Immobiliare Del Borgo SA and the opening will be the 6th march 2010 (saturday). The artists in the exhibition are: Della Giacoma Jonathan, Di Vuoio Maurizio, Kraus Patrizia, Marelli Flavio, Morroni Anna, Oswald Karlheinz, Poretti Gianni, Ravasio Paola.

We had no time to make a new Christmas card, so we are "recycling" the old ones :-P (but they've not been posted in a blog so far!)

Daydream in a Box!

 

Our latest outdoor painting: "Daydream in a Box" realized on the front wall of the youth center of Breganzona (Switzerland) from the 16th to the 26th of november 2009.

The weather was nice almost all the days, sometimes a little bit misty and cold, but there was no problem doing all we planned to. As you can see in the pictures below (click to enlarge), we started from a yellow paint and we made a vintage texture on it. Then we made a green hole with the same texture and we started with the main subjects and the folded sheet effect.

 ...Now there's a big box in Breganzona and a dragon created from its cutted side. :-)

Ok, this will probably be the last outdoor artwork for 2009. Now, here in Switzerland, is too cold and rainy for outdoor painting with spray cans and we have to wait till the end of march for a little bit of sun! Of course we'll continue with paintings on canvas, graphics (we're working on 2 nice projects at the moment), illustrations and photgraphy....
